 Horizontal & Vertical Alignment question

Our office is working on several roadway projects at once, mostly intersection & bridge replacement projects. I am moving from using older drafting software to TBC and have a question about the corridor setup on these projects. I am still creating these corridors in the old software to create the layout files for the crews due to time requirements while i learn the TBC and gain confidence in both the software and my knowledge of it. However, I want to generate the as-built reports in TBC due to the ease of report generation especially the choice of output formats (in addition to appeasing the bean counters over the cost of the program).

The plan sets for roadway have horizontal alignments that extend well beyond the project limits, however the vertical alignments as you would expect are only for the project area. For example, Horizontal starts at STA 95+00.0 and ends at STA 157+50.0 and the vertical profile starts at the project start STA 110+00 and ends at project end STA 133+00.

In the older software the vertical profile length had to match the horizontal length exactly, meaning i had to 0% the elevation from 95+00 to 110+00 and create a break point to start the profile then create a break at 133+00 and 0% the elevation to 157+50 so the lengths would match.  Does that apply in TBC? or can i simply start the vertical alignment at 110+00 and end it at 133+00 in TBC?

No need to use that workaround with TBC. Just create a profile for the shorter station range, and TBC simply won't build a corridor template/surface where there is no profile.

Nelson thank you for that information. I was hoping it would be that simple. Unfortunately, I just don't have the time to experiment with things right now since I am the only tech in the office.
