As you said, the real solution is to upgrade, as that problem was resolved.
If it is the problem I am thinking of, TBC seemed to be opening and indexing each file in the folder it was using, which was taking a long time in many instances. If that is the problem you are facing, the work-around that I had was to have a folder on my desktop called TBC Import. I would put stuff there and then use that folder for TBC to index, import the file(s), then clear that folder when done.
