All,

We are having some trouble loading our design files onto a John Deere/Cat Smartgrade system. We use AutoCad Civil 3d to create our design files and have not ran into this situation before as the site in question uses a specified Geoid that was not included in the Coordinate System Database (GSD95).

I already added the geoid to the trimble sub folder (C:\ProgramData\Trimble\GeoData) and to the coordinate system database (saving the current.csd file).

 - Note: The Vertical System / Datum EPSG ID are both blank (Unsure if this is important)

For the TBC machine file creation we do the following:

  • Start a TBC file using the default template
  • Drag and Drop the dc/jxl files from the job site controller (selecting the geoid if needed) as previously added to the database above
  • drag and drop the dxf file create from Autocad Civil 3d
  • drag and drop the ttm file created from trimble link add on in Civil 3d
  • Create a New Job Site (Select Folder Type)
  • Create Design (Selecting Surface Type and adding dxf Linework via Design Map +/-)
  • Publish to Library (including the Control.cpz / Site.Cal / Site.smz / Design.Dsz / Corrdsystemdatabase.xml / Geiod.ggf Files as per the default file structure)
  • Create a zip File of the ProjectLibrary used to load onto the machine

After all that is done we are getting an error message stating the following:

Coordinate system error

Geoid File - GSD95 is not specified in the Coordinate System Database XML

 - Unsure if this is referring to the design files or the Dozer unit itself.

Has anyone ran into a similar situation and found a way to fix this issue? We have in the past used a separate geoid and did a offset adjustment on the unit however we would rather not do that every time for this specific site. We also create files for similar dozers on another site (that has a known geoid in the database) with zero issues. My guess is there is an issue with linking the geoid from the design to the machine database.

TIA

Chris.
