Hello TBC’ers! With the release of Trimble Business Center v. 2023.1 loads of new features have been added to help improve user workflows and the capabilities of TBC. Check out this link here to learn more about these new features, but this tip is going to focus on just one new tool for manipulating point clouds. This new tool is the “Advanced Point Cloud Filtering” tool, which can be applied to any point cloud to create a new point cloud region using elevation as the defining parameter. Hello TBC’ers! Feature extraction is one of my favorite tool sets within TBC, and there are so many ways to incorporate it into your workflow. This week’s tip is focused on one type of point feature extraction, specifically manhole, which was released in TBC version 5.80. Hello TBC’ers! The “Drape Geometry on Point Cloud” command has been a popular command since its release in TBC v.5.90. Using this feature, users are able to elevate the vertices of CAD lines to points in a point cloud. Summary WorksManager and Trimble Earthworks 2.14 supports new enhanced communication channels. This new functionality uses bidirectional real time communication to deliver project settings and designs to devices, and enables the device to transmit the status back to the office. We request Android users of Connect for Mobile app to upgrade to Android version 10 and above. This is to ensure that there are no issues in the app usage due to older OS. versions. Hello TBC’ers! Contours are a staple in mapping, and are a useful way to visualize elevations in both plan and 3D view within TBC. A previous tip (Tip #114) covered creating contour lines over a surface using the “Create Contours” tool. This tip is a continuation of that and dives further into the contour tools available in TBC. The first tool is “Quick Contours” and can be found under the “Surfaces” tab and in the “Contours” section (1A). Clicking on it will open up a new “Create Quick Contours” pane. Hello TBC’ers! When working with any type of spatial data, it can be incredibly useful to have a frame of reference or spatial context for your data. There are countless ways to get spatial context for your data, but fortunately TBC has several methods built in! With one click, your data will automatically be visualized with an accurate background map showing street, satellite, or terrain imagery in seconds. This is a useful set of macros added to help a machine operator to update the grid model by placing the bucket tip or closed grab on the placed material and a CI510 button push to update the surface for a single grid bin. In Acquisition customize a shortcut to associate 'Crane tool measure: log to file' with a CI510 switch button. We request Connect’s 3d domain users ( https://3d.connect.trimble.com ) to start using the web domain ( https://web.connect.trimble.com ) before 31 Dec 2023 . This includes any of the following - bookmarks to the legacy domain for opening 3D files, views , any legacy URL links shared through individual emails or chat , or use of legacy 3d domain in any embedded applications.
